Cummins announced today a strategic, multimillion-dollar investment in Rocky Mount Engine Plant (RMEP) in Whitakers, N.C. The mid-range diesel and natural gas engine plant produces engines for more than 500 customers and is a major employer in Nash County with more than 1,800 people employed at this location. With the $42 million investment, RMEP will undergo and multi-year transformation to modernize facilities and ensure future success for customers and stakeholders.

“This expansion is great news for Nash County and a testament to existing industries in our county receiving a major return on their investments,” said Andy Hagy, Director of Economic Development. “The county appreciates Cummins’s continued commitment and dedication to our skilled workforce and congratulates them on this exciting announcement.”
